DURATION OF ALLOTMENT
Members of the married apartments are required to adhere to the following time limits and accordingly make arrangements to vacate the apartments.
The eligible period of allotment of married apartments to students is 2 years and 9 months or until the day of defense of thesis whichever is earlier.
The period of allotment is further subject to the following conditions for each programme:
- PhD : No extension for stay beyond 6 ½ years from date of their registration even if the total duration of stay is within the eligible period
- PhD(int): No extension for stay beyond 8 ½ years from date of their registration even if the total duration of stay is within the eligible period
- MSc(engg): No extension for stay beyond 3 ½ years from date of their registration even if the total duration of stay is within the eligible period
- QIP: No extension for stay beyond 4 years from date of their registration even if the total duration of stay is within the eligible period
- Ph.D students, who continue at the Institute as research associate will have to vacate the married apartment if in occupation allotted under RRS quota on expiry of the eligible period. However, the RA can apply for the apartment under RA quota which will be allotted subject to availability of apartment meant for the RA quota if the criterion of seniority under RA category is fulfilled.
- If couples are students of the Institute, under no condition their combined period of stay in the married apartment/s even under separate applications exceed the eligible period of stay.
